The crisis in leadership supply is still accelerating. Even before the pandemic, key supply indicators were through the floor. The government’s chaotic approach and lack of support for school leaders throughout the pandemic have been compounded by the announcement of a pay ‘freeze’ that will deliver further cuts in school leaders’ real pay.

In this report, our key findings outline the impact the recruitment and retention crisis is having on school leadership supply and we set out key recommendations to the government on how this can be resolved.
