Six steps to implementing a child-friendly complaints procedure

Most schools will have in place systems for gathering feedback from their pupils. Such systems allow pupils to celebrate what they value about their school, to share ideas for improving their school and to raise any concerns they might have. There are many ways to achieve this e.g. pupil feedback forms, school council meetings, pupil conferencing etc. As part of this wider work on pupil voice, some schools may wish to consider developing a more specific child-friendly complaints procedure.

In this guidance, you will find some key steps to setting up a child-friendly complaints procedure as well as a draft policy and pupil complaints form for use in your school.
