Today (16 July) exam body AQA announced that it saved £45m this summer and will return all of this to schools and colleges, meaning they will be refunding 26% of entry fees paid.
Nick Brook, deputy general secretary of school leaders’ union NAHT said: “Our members are clear that the rebate of exam fees must be significantly greater than last year’s. It must reflect the significant additional work undertaken by school and college staff, and the costs incurred by centres – without this, no grades could have been awarded this year. The Welsh and Scottish governments have been proactive in their recognition of this and put additional funding in place. The Westminster government must follow suit.”
