Shaun is a former Deputy Head teacher and author of 'Celebrating Difference- A Whole School Approach to LGBT+ Inclusion’ published by Bloomsbury Education. He was one of the first UK primary school leaders to come out publicly in the national and international media as gay in 2009. Shaun now works as Freelance trainer and speaker for schools, initial teacher training facilities and businesses. He is a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching and Royal Society of Arts. In 2016 he was designated a Point of Light by the Prime Minister for services to education and LGBT+ communities. In 2016 he was named Education Champion at the National Diversity Awards, in 2020 one of the Top 100 Global Diversity Leaders and in 2021 Top 20 Diversity Figures in Public Life (The Guardian) alongside Kamala Harris and Barrack Obama. His anti-bullying work featured on BBCs ‘Our School’ and he has written extensively for publications including the Guardian, TES, Teach Primary, Leadership Focus, Huffington Post. He was a founding advisor to the Centre for LGBTQ Inclusion In Education at Leeds Beckett University.
Paul Whiteman, NAHT General Secretary
Paul Whiteman took over as NAHT general secretary in September 2017. NAHT represents the majority of school leaders in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Paul leads NAHT’s campaigns to improve schools for everyone, including the campaigns to achieve a fair funding settlement for schools, improve the systems of
accountability and improve the recruitment and retention of teachers and leaders. Prior to taking over as general secretary, Paul was NAHT’s director of representation and advice, a post he held for five years. The representation and advice team includes regional officers, organisers, the advice team and legal
team. It helps to promote NAHT’s voice across the country while providing highly-regarded assistance and protection to members when needed.
Before joining NAHT, Paul spent a decade as a national official at FDA, the union for civil servants. He has a firstclass grasp of education issues as well as many years’ experience in the wider trade union movement.

Hanna is a leadership development consultant, coach and facilitator, a DfE coach for the Women Leading in Education initiative and an advocate for flexible working (the focus for my MA in Education). Specialisin in: Diversity, Inclusion and Equality, Professional Learning, Early Career Teachers, Mental Health and Wellbeing. Hannah is a collaborator and a networker; is involved in a number of networks which I have co-founded and co-lead for who I deliver bespoke training. Shani Dhanda is a multi-award-winning disability specialist and entrepreneur listed as one of the UK's most influential disabled people and BBC’s 100 Women 2020 List.
As a keynote speaker and practitioner for inclusion across business, government, non-profit and wider society, Shani helps organisations break barriers and integrate inclusion into their business frameworks.
As an influential woman in leadership, Shani has taken change into her own hands and founded numerous organisations to improve representation and challenge social inequality globally - Diversability, Asian Woman Festival, and Asian Disability Network.
