There has been a marked increase over recent years in part-time working in schools. NAHT receives enquiries, not only from members with teachers returning from maternity leave, but also from members who wish to reduce their own working hours for a variety of reasons, such as phasing down towards retirement, creating time in which to study for additional qualifications, and achieving an improved work/life balance.
We look at the merits of job shares and flexible working and how school leaders can protect themselves if they are applying or need to consider requests from others and provide a model flexible working policy for leaders.
