Temporary school closures – a practical guide

This advice paper sets out some ideas for school leaders for dealing with temporary school closures. It aims to provide a framework for dealing with these sorts of closures as smoothly as possible. As we know at this time of year, school closures happen for a number of reasons, such as boiler breakdowns. So this isn’t intended to be a covid-specific piece of advice because it intends to form the basis for a plan to deal with all sorts of temporary closures when they happen.

Given the time of year, it’s also worth reminding you of our guidance in the event of heavy snowfall or flooding, which looks at the potential impact of dealing with these situations, including the decision to close the school. You can find this guidance here.
